MTN Cameroon SA, in collaboration with the National On/Offshore Institute of Australia and America (NOIAA), recently conducted a comprehensive Forklift Operator Safety Training program at NOIAA’s renowned On/Offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre. The objective of this program was to enhance the knowledge and skills of forklift operators, ensuring their safety and the safety of those around them in the workplace.

Forklifts play a crucial role in various industries, including logistics, warehousing, construction, and manufacturing. However, their operation requires competence, discipline, and adherence to strict safety protocols. Recognizing the importance of forklift operator safety, MTN Cameroon SA took the initiative to provide its operators with specialized training at a prestigious facility like NOIAA’s On/Offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre.

The training program was specifically designed to address the most critical aspects of forklift operations, focusing on the key areas of safety, operation, load handling, and maintenance. Expert trainers were selected to deliver comprehensive theoretical and practical sessions, covering essential topics such as:

  1. Safety Procedures and Regulations: Operators were educated on the importance of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. They were also provided with an overview of relevant regulations and standards.
  • Forklift Operation Techniques: The program provided in-depth training on the proper use of forklift controls, steering, braking, and maneuvering techniques. Operators were taught how to handle different load sizes, lift heights, and aisle widths safely.
  • Load Handling and Stacking: Participants learned how to assess loads for weight, balance, and stability before lifting and transporting them. Techniques for safe loading, unloading, stacking, and racking were thoroughly demonstrated and practiced.
  • Maintenance and Inspections: Proper maintenance procedures and pre-shift inspections were emphasized to ensure the forklifts are in optimal condition. Operators were trained on identifying and reporting any mechanical issues promptly to prevent potential breakdowns or accidents.

Throughout the training, practical sessions were conducted in a controlled environment, allowing participants to practice their skills and receive immediate feedback from experienced instructors. This hands-on approach ensured that operators gained confidence in their abilities while following industry best practices.

MTN Cameroon SA’s investment in this training program reflects its commitment to employee safety and operational excellence. By upgrading the skills and knowledge of its forklift operators, the company is not only safeguarding its personnel but also enhancing productivity and efficiency.

The collaboration with NOIAA’s On/Offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre further underscores the importance of industry partnerships to promote safety and professionalism. NOIAA’s expertise and state-of-the-art training facilities added immense value to the program, allowing participants to learn in a realistic environment resembling actual work scenarios.

As a responsible corporate player, MTN Cameroon SA recognizes that a skilled and safety-conscious workforce is vital for sustainable growth and operational success. By conducting this Forklift Operator Safety Training at NOIAA’s On/Offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre, the company has taken a significant step towards ensuring a safe working environment for its employees and contributing to overall industry safety standards in Cameroon.
