IMO managements and the Central African Sub Regional Director of Maritime Affairs and Inland Waterways visit to the Subsidiary Operational On/offshore Maritime Safety Training and Accommodation Centre (NOIAA LTD).
Mr. Laurent GACY, consultant for the International Maritime Organization (IMO), alongside Mr. NLEND Jean, Director of Maritime Affairs and Inland Waterways of Cameroon’s Ministry of Transport and his team, recently did a joint audit on one of the subsidiary’s Operational On/offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre of the National Offshore Institute of Australia and America, Limited (NOIAA LTD) located in the West Coast of Cape Limboh, Victoria now Limbe, South West Region of the Republic of Cameroon, covering the whole of Africa for International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) trainings.
Anyone wishing to work on commercial vessels that are over 24 meters long will have to obtain STCW qualifications/courses before they seek employment. The type of courses/qualifications they will need will greatly depend on the position they are applying for and the post they will be assigned to once they are on-board.
At the very minimum, you will need to obtain STCW Basic Safety Courses in order to apply to work on a ship. These courses can usually be completed within a week – during one block booking – at a designated STCW training center. NOIAA LTD’s On/offshore Maritime Safety Training & Accommodation Centre located here in the West Coast of Cape Limboh-Limbe- Cameroon has for years now ensured that these maritime workers get the best trainings and necessary qualifications they needed to work on board a vessel. Their safety has always been our priority.
During a recent press briefing by NOIAA’s CEO Mola Chris C.YOK he said that, one of the main reason this training center is built here in the West Coast of Cape Limboh is not just because he hails from here but that he saw the future of the Coastal people very prominent and valuable. Also to bring awareness to the coastal people on the risk involve in engaging on their daily activities without any little knowledge on First aid in case there is an accident. This has reduced drastically the number of accidents happening in the West Coast area because of the Training Centre being created.
I join this company for three reasons, said Mr. Mohamed Daoud, who is of Tunisian origin and the Training Manager for Middle East and Africa Operations in his recent outing that, NOIAA is internationally recognize with all safety accreditations in all domains of their activities, well equipped with modern sophisticated equipment to carry out all sort On/offshore safety training courses and very much innovative in delivering their services. What really triggers me most is the idea of always renewing their training equipment every year to keep them up to date and ensures that their instructors are well trained to deliver the best to their clients.
